Living the dream...

The tour is finally all set and all accommodations  are taken care of.  This is going to be the best tour so far.  Six weeks of Techno and Electro in some of the biggest and baddest clubs that Europe has to offer.  I am excited for each show, but I must be honest.  Playing in Tresor for the first time ever is going to be the personal highlight of the trip.  That doesnt take away from the other shows in Spartacus in Marseilles and Aquarius in Zagreb and all of the other scheduled performances, but I would be lying if I didnt say that Tresor was the top.  Mostly though, I look forward to seeing all of my friends overseas that I only get to see  once or twice a year.
After 6 weeks, I return home to a welcome party at Gracies in Royal Oak and then immediately off to Minneapolis for a performance with the outstanding Techno DJ Aaron Litschke.
Then, the biggest event of the year in Detroit goes down.  Movement 2011 has just announced that the Detroit Techno Militia 5x5 will be showcased on the Detroit Stage at this years Festival.
Besides the performance at the festival, I am putting together the Bang Tech 12 Fifteen year Anniversary.  I cant believe its been that long.... That party takes place the day before Movement begins  at Bookies Bar & Grille in Detroit.  Four rooms... 50 performers.... all FREE.
Lots of big things going on and it isnt even April yet.  Add to the list 2 vinyl releases, 1 digital release and a full album release set for later this year.....

Back to it & Back to Europe

Things have been hectic the past... year or so...
I am finally getting back to it, so off we go.

Lots of big things in the works.  Currently planning the world tour with the Detroit Techno Militia.  This is our biggest tour yet.  Check it.  A few cities we have performed in before, but there are many new places on this tour that I have never been.

April 2 - Itri, Italy
April 8 - Barcelona, Spain
April 15 - Marseilles, France
April 16 - Meaux, France
April 17 - Namur, Belgium
April 22 - Berlin, Germany
April 23 - Amsterdam, Netherlands
April 29 - Zagreb, Croatia
April 30 - Paris, France
May 7 - Eindhoven, Netherlands

We plan on filming a lot and making the vlog's like the last few years.  If anyone has any suggestions, I would love to hear them....

After that, I return home to perform at Movement aka DEMF aka Tech-fest aka....
Cant Wait.  It is by far my favorite weekend of the year and this will be my third performance at the festival, but my first time performing as the DTM 5X5.  Paxahau does it right year after year.  I am sure this one will exceed all previous festivals.

Last but not least, I just finished a full length album with my good friend Aaron Litschke from Minneapolis.  Huge project.  Details coming real soon....

New Years Eve in Scauri, Italy

Italy is the spot!. Never before have I met such a passionate group of Hard Techno lovers. T.Linder and I performed in a beach town named Scauri. It is South of Rome and North of Naples located right on the banks of the Mediterranean Sea. People from this surrounding area know how to get down. The crowd on New Years was a very diverse crowd, but they shared many of the same traits. They loved Techno and they knew their music. Every person that I held conversations with were extremely knowledgeable about everything Techno. The crowd got excited for mixes, and not for individual tracks, which is very different than what I am used to in the States. Another big difference was all of the fireworks on New Years. Being from Detroit, explosions outside the window and within the venue itself scared the crap out of me.

This years D.E.M.F. / Movement was amazing. Congrats to Paxahau and the City of Detroit for putting on a fantastic show for all of the out of towners that were here for the first time. Bang Tech 12 kicked off the weekend properly with a free show at The New Bookies Tavern. With over 1500 people in attendance, it set the bar really high for the rest of the weekend. Metromix was on hand to take some pictures. Here are some more pictures of the event. This was a Label re-launch for us and I am extremely proud of my whole crew. Everyone pitched in to make this a free event and it went off without a hitch. Thank you Bookies for allowing us to destroy your brand new bar.

Saturday we held the Detroit Techno Militia Afterparty at 5 Elements Gallery. This was a record release event for DTM 004 (see below). 5 Elements Gallery is a decent size, but it could not handle the 1200 plus people that showed up to celebrate with the Militia. Extra thanks go to Colin and Newton from Sonic Synergy. Their sound provided great times for the Bang Tech 12 event and this event as well. The DTM party was capacity early and stayed that way until 5 am. This was a gritty Detroit party that felt like a throwback to the old Packard Plant days. DTM sure knows how to put on a party and the fact that people stayed in line for over an hour just to get inside is a testament to their success.

The Festival itself was a lot of fun. We performed Monday on the Underground Stage. This years setup was either loved or hated. My personal opinion is that the setup of the stage was fun, but the sound was better last year. This year the stage was setup on top of a circle of speakers and that caused a bit of a problem for vinyl DJs. The stage was vibrating due to the bass bins. I assume this made the sound tech turn the entire rig down which caused some people to be displeased with the output. I still had a fantastic time and loved every minute of it. My parents were there and it was only the second time they have been able to witness me perform over the past 15 years. That meant the world to me and I am happy they were able to be there.

My favorite set of the festival was Mark "8en" Moss and Teddy MC. Of course i am biased, but he had the crowd in a frenzy and it was really exciting to see a good friend of mine put together such a beautiful performance.

It has taken me until today, June 4th to finally get my health back to normal. next year i am stocking up on Flinstone Vitamins and Echinacea...
